1970's Kaiju Series Devilman Bootlegs

In Japan, the 1970's were a time of many big hits such as Ultraman, Godzilla, and all of those other Kaiju Series that have had a huge impact on Japan's culture. It was so huge that all of Japan went crazy for all of those Kaiju Series! They just loved the Kaiju Series so much that they had to make toys, merchandize, and many other things of it! But of course, there were some companies who also tried to get into the Kaiju toy market.. and that's when the whole Kaiju Bootlegs came in..

Todays Kaiju Series Bootleg is........ The Kaiju Series Devilman Bootleg!! Devilman was a manga from 1972 by Go Nagai. It was known for its strong violence and dark theme. It was also known by its anime which barely began a month after the manga was released and was an anime slightly different than the manga. The anime made Devilman more of a hero and was more aimed toward kids rather then teenagers and adults. In fact, if you think about it, the Devilman anime is kind of a Kaiju show in some ways since he fights against many demons that are like Kaiju's themselves. However, how can we be assured this is a Kaiju Bootleg?

In the picture below, you can see the header card of this figure and it says 怪獣シリーズ  (Kaiju Series). That being said, "What does this have to do with Devilman"? That is a mystery indeed...

Surprisingly, at that same time a removable mask version of the Devilman bootleg figure was made.. Was it made by the same people? Was it a bootleg of the other bootleg? That is yet another mystery...
Now, when it comes to how they both are, they are pretty similar. Both look the same, have the same colors (That is if both of them have the golden spot on their chest. The non-removable mask one's were made with either a golden or greenish blue spot. The removable mask versions however, were only made with gold spots.), header card and the same floppy yet hard-thin wings that can be moved from position or bend very easily. The only difference between them is obviously that one has a removable mask. The removable mask retains the same design of the other bootleg's head but it is made of a really weird vinyl indeed... It is extremely soft, and even if it is squished entirely it retains the same shape.
That is very useful though, since it makes it way easier to put on the mask on the figure. Also, it doesn't give you that strange nervous feeling of tearing the mask apart and breaking it which makes it really useful.. Anyhow, in the end, both of them are great figures. Although they are bootlegs, it shows us that not all bootlegs are just incredibly bad toys but in fact very interesting. It is indeed a must have toy for any kind of collector! We will meet again.. Devilman!

Those are pretty scary eyes indeed........!

1970's Nakajima Tiger Mask Orange Mask Sofubi

As promised, I would post my first review sooner or later, so here it is! As some of you may know, I am a big fan of Tiger Mask, so what wouldn't be better than my first review being about the Nakajima Tiger Mask? Well enought talking, lets begin! This Soft Vinyl toy was released in the 1970's by Nakajima for the Tiger Mask Soft Vinyl Line. The Line consisted of 26 figures that were made based off the characters in the original Tiger Mask manga in 1968. The Line is recognized for its unique adaptation of the characters in the manga. They made most of the characters have bigger heads with a normal sized body and look more in someway kind of kiddish looking. Nevertheless, there are many collectors who collect these figures and would like to add them to their collection making it a very well know vintage japanese line. Below you can see various pictures I took of the figure so you can get an idea.

Although this figure is roughly around 40 years olds, its a pretty awesome figure to add to your collection. Depending on how the figures condition is the price may vary from acceptable to pretty expensive! That also includes other things such as the cape, sash, and boots.. But if you are lucky, you can get it for a very reasonable or cheap price! Now, when it comes to rarity, this figure is pretty hard to find if you want it in good conditions with the cape and boots. Not only that, but the price may be high as I mentioned before.. Nevertheless, if you ever come across one of these and you feel the urge to buy it, then I recommend you to do so since its a great addition! And when I mean its a great addition, I mean it! Next time I'll try and see if I can review some of the Evil Wrestlers (わるものスラー)which were basically the enemies of Tiger Mask. That is the ones that I have. So until next time...

Welcome to SOFVI MANIA!

Hello and Welcome to SOFVI MANIA! In this blog I will review Soft Vinyl Toy's and many other collectibles that I collect as a Hobby. What kind of Soft Vinyl Toy's and collectibles will I review? The kind of Soft Vinyl Toy's that I will review might mostly consist of Japanese, in other words  foreign Soft Vinyl Toy's such as Five Star Toy, Nakajima, Medicom Toy, and many others. If you'd like, you can go to my site by going to the link here http://circlepad.com/SOFVIMANIA and send me a recommendation for a Soft Vinyl Toy I should review. I can't promise you that I will be able to review the recommendations you send me but give it a try! You don't know if it can happen if you don't give it a try! I might also review retro and modern video games that I play. The retro video games reviews might consist of games for the Nintendo 64, Playstation, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo, Original Game Boy's and heck, even the NES! And for the modern game reviews, the games might be for the Nintendo GameCube, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3. Last but not least, when and how many reviews will I post on this blog? It depends. Since I might not always have the time to post a review everyday, I will try to post as many reviews as I can! I'll do my best!
